As you may have heard it was a very sad day on the coast here earlier in the week when a ride at one of our local and popular theme parks called Dreamworld malfunctioned killing four people.
We have live on the northern end of the Gold Coast in South East Queensland for almost 25 years and even though we've moved numerous times within that period we have always been within a ten minute drive or so of our local theme parks, one of which is Dreamworld.
I can't drive far in our local area without catching a glimpse of the theme park as one of its rides is very tall. Locals go to Dreamworld many times at reduced rates and have been on the ride that malfunction just like I have, so it has been a very sad few days as in the south east here we pride ourselves on tourism and safety. This was shattered the other afternoon.
Over the last few days a memorial has been set up to remember those that died so tragically.
This morning we went there to lay some flowers:
I stood here just for a few moments in thought.
